Although Rainham Broadway was merely a dusty, open space in 1895 it was already the focal point of Rainham. |

Possibly taken around the same time, the 18th Century Redberry can be seen as can the original Angel Inn - the white building on the right (demolished and rebuilt in 1905). On the far right a haycart can be seen moving across the Broadway. |

1924 and the War Memorial has been standing for three years. One can now catch a hard-tyred 23A bus to destinations such as Barking, Aldgate, Holborn, Oxford Street, Baker Street and Marylebone. I wonder how much a season ticket was in those days ? |
